Hard Hammer was one of the radio call signs used by the men who were assigned to the 6th Battalion 33rd Artillery during our time in Vietnam from February 1968 to February 1970. The 6/33rd was an independent 105mm artillery unit and was not assigned to a specific division. The unit provided fire support for the 1st Cavalry, 101st Airborne, as well as Marine and ARVN units working in an area from the Demilitarized Zone south to a few miles north of Da Nang, and from the seacoast west to the Laos border. Members of the battalion began to collect historical information at the National Archives over 20 years ago and supplemented that historical information with individual recollections, letters, writings, and photos that were gathered over the years.Information in this book of chronological events was provided by and is dedicated to all of the men who served with us in Vietnam and to their families.
